On the 7th of February the President of RSA Cyril Ramaphosa presented his state of the nation address speech. The picture above outlines the key points that the president revealed.
The point on dropping the work experience requirements in the public sector seems to be catchy for unemployed youth. Mostly, entry requirements include 2 and more years of experience, a driver’s license etc. The youth received this as a hindrance given the issue of not having funds for licence’s.
However, as these news were exciting, the issue of nepotism and corruption is still of concern. What is to be done about nepotism, giving jobs to friends,relatives and family? What will the government do about bribes and sexual favors for job considerations?
These are the issues that will hinder the transformation we are trying to pursue as a country. They need careful consideration and meaningful intervention.
